I'm Olivia Rian, author of Knotty Pine Mysteries. Sara Aycock, the illustrator, came to me last September wanting a story written for her charming animal paintings. Within a few months, Knotty Pine was born.

Olivia Rian wrote her first book when she was seven, a comic book called "The Pimple-Faced Dragon" (poor dragon). After surviving a few frosty winters in the Mountain West, she received a degree in English from Brigham Young University- Idaho. She now lives in the DC metropolitan area, closer to her original home in the Midwest. Olivia enjoys reading, shopping, biking, baking dessert, and making trips to the beach with her husband and two kids.

Sara Aycock is a stay-at-home mother of three boys by day and an artist by night (those close to her know she is a night owl). She enjoys spending time outdoors, especially in the forest, with her husband and children. Sara has always felt a strong connection to nature, and it is often the subject of her artwork. Sara uses her artwork to express her thoughts and feelings: "As I create art, it becomes part of who I am; as I share my art, it becomes part of who you are."
